Continuous Assessment

There is no terrifying final exam. CELTA is assessed continuously throughout the course based on two primary components.

1. Teaching Practice (TP)

The core of CELTA is hands-on experience. You will teach a total of 6 hours of assessed lessons to real adult learners at a minimum of two different ability levels.

  • Supervised lesson planning sessions
  • Live teaching evaluation by Cambridge tutors
  • Constructive feedback sessions after every class
  • 6 hours of peer observation

2. Written Assignments

You will complete four written assignments, each 750–1,000 words, designed to bridge the gap between theory and classroom practice.

  • Analysing and responding to adult learner needs
  • Analysing language for specific teaching purposes
  • Teaching language skills effectively
  • Reflecting critically on your own classroom teaching
